5 Reasons Why Modern Medicine is Bad for Your Health
January 5th 2008 06:02
1. Among the top ten causes of death in the US are the toxic reactions to correctly prescribed drugs. Each year correctly prescribes drugs kill 106,000 Americans, and make around 2 million people sick!
2. Incorrectly prescribed drugs in the US account for 90,000 deaths each year!
3. Pharmaceutical medicines don’t actually cure the illness or disease – they just manage the symptoms. And they not only cause harmful side effects, but also lower your natural immune system with long-term use. That means you are more susceptible to more illness, which requires more drugs, and the cycle continues. Would you tell someone to snort cocaine for their entire life because it helped alleviate symptoms?
4. Doctors are not actually taught natural nutrition as part of their degree! If your doctor knows about nutrition and natural remedies it’s usually because they’ve researched it themselves. Apparently 95% of all diseases are curable through diet, yet natural remedies like eating fresh foods, sunlight, exercise etc, are not promoted by doctors to replace drugs. And apparently this is because you can’t make money from them! Do you notice that the medical fraternity never takes action on getting people off drugs and onto prevention diets and subsidized nutritional supplements? Do you notice that governments don’t take seriously campaigns to ban junk food ads to children? Mmmm.
5. Modern medicine has taken away the power - particularly of women - to take part in their own healing. Think clitoridectomy, gynaecology, hysterectomies, mastectomies, HRT and estrogen replacement, the pill, unnecessary caesarean births, stirrups and forceps for birthing etc etc. It’s all designed to take the power away from the people and into the hands of `professionals’ who can charge you a lot of money for their `services’. Services they say you simple cannot do yourself. Hooey!

Modern medicine has its place, and I think of the Caesarean section I ended up having after 34 hours of trying for natural labour, and I am very grateful for it as a back-up in the modern world. But I do think we too readily resort to it, instead of listening more to our bodies, trusting them to heal, and seeking more natural remedies that aid intuitive healing rather than shut it down.
Thanks for this,
