10 Alternative Things To Do Before You Die
January 23rd 2008 05:53
1. Stand in front of a mirror, acknowledge all your perfect imperfections, and decide you love yourself the most anyway.
2. While you’re at it, look into your eyes and say`I love you’ and mean it.
3. Walk through a garden or park and really check out the flowers. They have amazing patterns that are the very same as other patterns in the universe, like the stars, our blood vessels, the DNA in all living things and the lines on our faces. Amazing.
4. Make a list of ten things you’ve always wanted to do, then start planning how and when you’re going to do them.
5. Sit in a darkened room, close your eyes, put your hand on your heart and feel it beating. Wonder at the feat of who you truly are: a living, breathing miracle.
6. Look out on a beautiful natural view and acknowledge the wonderful world that we live in. It’s truly a Garden of Eden right here on Earth, and we’re so lucky to have been given this gift… and it’s free!
7. Meditate on the back of your eyelids: There’s a while universe going on in there, and if you focus on the backs of your eyelids you’ll get a whole fireworks display. And check out the patterns as per No. 1.
8. Spend a few days lying in bed, drinking tea, eating cookies, and reading a great novel from beginning to end. Let it take you away to another place, and in between have lots of naps and time just staring out the window. It’s amazing how tired we actually get in our busy lives, and taking a few days out to just read, rest and ponder can rejuvenate you more than a holiday abroad (especially if you drop the caffeine while you take the sabbatical, and do some meditation as well). You could dream up a whole new career, plan the ten things you’ve always wanted to do, and get some well needed perspective on where you’re at in life.
9. Do daily practice of a single meditation technique for one month. Go to a class, buy a guided CD or discover a technique you like on the internet. Stick to you commitment to last for a month, and see what it can do for you. It may even change your life.
10. Do (at least) one thing you love doing every day. Make a list if need be, and make sure you prioritise to get your one-thing in. In fact, prioritise this at-least-one-thing, over a thing you don’t like doing each day. After all, you create your own life so you may as well make it fun!
